Community Conservation Grant

MDCWe are so excited to announce that Pettis County R-XII School has received a Missouri Department of Conservation grant.  This grant will allow us to begin our vision of expanding our outdoor classroom opportunities by cultivating the 3 acres directly across from the school. We have already started the process by applying a herbicide to kill off the existing fescue grass to prepare for a native Wildflower seed mix to be planted.  We are also hoping to burn off the remaining vegetation before seeding.  This specialty mix will encourage pollinators and be a beautiful addition to our school. This project would not be possible without David Niebruegge from MDC and Joe White from the Sedalia area Quail Forever chapter.  They both have put a lot of effort into helping our school get set up for success.  There will be guest speakers and activities to connect the students to the project year after year.  We hope this will be a wonderful compliment to our Dresden community.
